How the recorded exam works
Trades Academy Online's exam is taken in the Trades Academy iPhone app. There is no live proctor on the line during your attempt. Instead, the app records your front camera, audio, and screen activity while you test, and a proctor reviews the recording afterward. The exam content and passing requirements don't change based on how the exam is administered.
Step by step
- Download and sign in. Download the Trades Academy iPhone app, sign in, and purchase your exam in the app.
- Device checks. The app checks your camera and microphone before you begin.
- Take the exam. Your front camera, audio, and screen activity are recorded throughout your attempt.
- Upload. The app sends your recording to Trades Academy Online when you finish.
- Proctor review. A proctor reviews your recording as part of the certification process.
What you need before you start
- An iPhone with the Trades Academy app installed
- A working front camera and microphone
- A reliable internet connection to upload your recording
- An acceptable photo ID
- A quiet, private room with no other people, notes, or devices within reach
